21 Century!

Wow, I almost forgot to post this next blog. That's honesty for you. This week my kids worked on project that involved creativity which is what I thought was one of the most important 21st century skills. Now many of you may argue that this activity is not actually using a 21st century skills but I will explain my why I do. In my Japanese class we were talking about the Tsunami that happened last March. We watched a few video clips about the tragedy in Japan, how earthquakes in the ocean make tsunamis, and then make connections and comparisons with where we live. The students then wrote about the tsunami from different points of view using a RAFT. Now this is where I say that it is a 21st century skill. The students were able to pick to write from the point of view of a survivor of the tsunami, an aide worker, the only building left in a town, or from the point of view of the tsunami itself. To me this is important because it's putting yourself in someone elses shoes. To be able to put yourself in someones place and to think from their point of view is something that can help in basically any career and in life in general!

I had zero issues this week. Zero. The only problem that I ran into was that my printer is out of toner. Yikes.

What to do with this i pad?

I've been thinking about what I can do in my class with this i pad. The first and most important thing that I am going to your this for is my main computer. I travel from four different classrooms at first school and use four different computers. This means I have to log into each computer and set up my lesson from drop box in every period. This i pad is going to make life so much easier. I already bought the cord to connect it to the smart board and everything! Other things that I would like to do is some exploring on google earth and perhaps some FaceTime or Skype with some people in other countries.
